A Word on the Eta Kappa Nu Pledge Process

Dear Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) Pledge,

The HKN Pledge Process is not meant to be a stressful or time-consuming endeavor for you. The purpose of the Pledge Process is for you to become familiar with the goals and ideals of Eta Kappa Nu, and for us to , in some small way, determine if you are worthy of membership in HKN. The purpose of the Pledge Test is to familiarize you with HKN and our local chapter, and the purpose of the Project is to let you meet, and interact with, some of our current members. Neither the Test nor the Pledge is intended to take up a significant amount of your time. However, it is your responsibility to treat the process seriously and professionally. The membership in HKN is one of only a few honors that may appear on your official UVa academic record.

We try to be as flexible as possible when it comes to deadlines and dues. We do not want you to be discouraged from joining just because you don't think you can meet the test or project deadlines, or because you can't afford the dues. If you do feel that you will be unable to meet the deadline, or that you would like to work out some payment plan of your choice for the dues, I ask you to please contact me before the deadline. I am sure that we can work something out.

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to e-mail me at ieee-hkn@virginia.edu. I wish you the best of luck in your pledging process, and I look forward to welcoming you as a member of the Gamma Pi Chapter of IEEE Eta Kappa Nu.
