San Gerardo de Dota

Hurricane Otto (the first recorded hurricane in CR history) hit us while we were there - so we went to the valley of San Gerardo de Dota, a birder's paradise.

	The elusive quetzal (a female here) - a rare find. This bird was almost hunted to extinction by the Mayans, and is a symbol of Central America.	CR has 56 species of hummingbirds. This is a Green Violeteer
