Summary
Jeffrey Hesler's research is focused on the development of rugged, sensitive, and inexpensive heterodyne receiver systems for use with high frequency microwave applications such as satellite-based remote sensing, collision avoidance radar, communications systems, imaging, and spectroscopy. His current research projects include the development of compact room-temperature harmonic mixers at submillimeter-wavelengths, and the use of various micromachining and molding techniques in the fabrication of submillimeter-wavelength components.

Background:
Dr. Hesler joined the department in 1995 as a Research Scientist, and became a member of the faculty in 1997. He has authored more than 25 journal and conference publications, and is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He received the B.S.EE, cum laude, in May 1989 from Va. Tech, the M.S.EE in May 1991 from the University of Virginia, and the the Ph.D.EE in January 1996 from the University of Virginia.
